Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a primary care physician?

It’s important to have a primary care physician. They get to know you, your history and your family health history. Building a long-term relationship with your PCP can translate to major health benefits over your lifetime, such as lower overall health costs, a decrease in hospital and ER visits, and better management of chronic diseases. People of all ages should have a primary care physician. Here at Phoenix premier medical we treat patients of all ages from teenagers to senior citizens.

What is Internal Medicine?

Internal medicine doctors provide adults with routine primary care and prevention services as well as in-depth care for chronic illnesses. Their specialized knowledge of chronic diseases and how the body functions means internists are able to treat the whole body.

What are Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical Hormones are an exact replica of the hormones that are naturally produced by the body. The difference between bioidentical and synthetic hormones is that, although both are created in labs, synthetic hormones are not identical to the hormones naturally created in your body and bioidentical hormones match your body’s hormones, molecule by molecule. Depending on what your symptoms are and which hormone(s) your body needs, your Provider may choose to prescribe bioidentical hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid hormones, DHEA, cortisol, pregnenolone, melatonin or others as needed

Why Do men and women need Hormone Replacement therapy?

No matter what your age, if your female hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone) are unbalanced or have severely declined, you may suffer ill effects such as hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, mood swings, depression, anxiety, memory loss, vaginal dryness, difficult periods, fatigue, loss of your sex drive and even weight gain.

As men age, production of the hormone testosterone begins to decline and they experience symptoms of low testosterone. Testosterone is the hormone that is responsible for maintaining mental focus, energy, metabolism, muscle mass, fat levels and sex drive. By balancing a man’s hormones with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, men can restore their vitality and reduce the symptoms of andropause.

When should I consider Bioidentical Hormone therapy?

In general, your body’s natural hormones begin to decline after your mid-20s and hormone imbalance symptoms are frequently present by your mid-30s. Men and women often start replacing hormones between the age of 35 and 40. If you are experiencing symptoms of hormone imbalance, it is best not to wait.

What are the side effects associated with Bioidentical Hormones?

Because bioidentical hormones have the same molecular structure of the hormones made naturally by your body, there are relatively few side effects. Side effects occur mainly when the dosage of hormone is too high for the individual. Our staff monitors and evaluates each patient consistently to assure balanced and proper dosing.

Will insurance cover the cost of my laboratory expenses?

Many insurance providers will cover your lab work 90-100% or at least part of the cost of the laboratory expense. To be sure, you should call your insurance provider at the number on the back of your card and ask what their policy is for blood work done by out of network providers

Can Neurotherapy help with my injury/joint pain?

Well, it depends. Fortunately, the NeuFit System is able to help most of the people who use it. Coupled with the NEUBIE device’s ability to re-educate muscles, increase blood flow, improve range of motion, prevent atrophy, decrease spasms, and relieve or manage pain, the NeuFit system has helped many people recover from sports injuries and various traumas and surgeries. Of course there are times when therapy and rehab strategies aren’t enough, and more serious interventions are necessary. If something is completely torn, for example, surgery may be the best solution. The good news is that NeuFit is non-invasive and very safe. Because of the low risks, it is often worth trying as a conservative strategy before considering more serious and invasive interventions like surgery and injections.

Can Neurotherapy help with MS

Although the Neubie device is not indicated to treat M.S., the NeuFit System has been able to help some people with M.S. manage their symptoms and improve quality of life. The NEUBIE device is able to reduce spasms, increase range of motion, improve circulation, prevent atrophy, and provide neuromuscular re-education. With the NeuFit protocols, this combination has enabled some people with M.S. to improve function, become more mobile, and return to activities that had become challenging or impossible.

Can this help with recovery from stroke/ spinal cord injury/ traumatic brain injury?

It depends on the situation. Harnessing the NEUBIE’s capacity for neuromuscular re-education, the NeuFit System has helped some people recover from these challenges in order to restore function. In some cases that recovery has meant slight increases in balance, movement, or the ability to complete activities of daily living. In a few cases it has been as dramatic as helping people get out of wheelchairs and walk again. There are many factors that affect a person’s recovery potential, so unfortunately NeuFit will not be helpful in all cases. If you or someone you know is dealing with one of these challenges, we encourage you to reach out to us to discuss your situation.
